sweet little cupcakes

There seems to be a craze on making cupcakes at the moment. Not only making them though, but photographing them too. Can't be any harm in following the trend...! Except when 30 cupcakes have to be eaten between 2 people in a week! Oh well, you've got to treat yourself occasionally. These little sweeties are coffee cupcakes, containing two expresso shots (one in the mixture and one in the frosting)! Delish!

Anyway, I've got a couple of new jobs. One is a children's book called 'Flemington', the other is to design some business cards for the local hairdressing salon.

back from holidays!

Hello lovelies! Well we've been back from holidays for a couple of weeks now. We had a great time, lots of relaxing! We flew to Sydney, drove from Sydney to Brisbane and then flew home from there. We seen the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and had a $70.00 pizza in Sydney! Then we headed up along the coast, stopping at a heap of beaches along the way. We then reached Brisbane and headed up as far as Melany. Did a bit of clothes shopping as well! Anyway, have a peek at the photos and I'll upload some design work soon. Talk later, Tiff.

Yay! I finally have my business cards, after much procrastinating! You wouldn't think it'd be so hard for a Graphic Designer to design their own business cards, but it really is. We're always seeing new ideas, and finding different ways to do things, we want to incorporate everything we like into one design (which doesn't work)!

So I've gone for something really plain and simple, yet catchy. The front just has an image of a white goose on red, and the back has the essential information simple and clean in an unusual layout of the diagonals.

I started a new job this week too! Yay! I'm now working for the local newspaper company as the Graphic Designer. It's great to finally have a job in the design field. My previous job was a checkout chick at a hardware store, so it's certainly a contrast in jobs!

I've got a really great logo to show you which I've just finished. Sol Tan Spraytan Salon will be setting up in Adelaide in the New Year. I'm so happy with how the logo has turned out. We've decided on a selection of different logos eg. brown with slogan, brown without slogan, white with slogan etc.... This means that the logo is really diverse and can be used on many different mediums, while still creating a strong brand image.

Hello lovelies! We'll I can't believe how long it's been since I've been on here. We've been preparing for our holidays, having our holidays, getting re-organised after our holidays, and finally we're in a routine again!

Anyway, have finished a few projects, so will get them up asap.

The weather is warming up, the birds are chirping and the sea is flat calm. We snapped a pic of a beautiful rainbow a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I'd share it with you all.

For those of you in South Aussie, you can share in the joy of spring rains!! The crops are looking fantastic and everything looks green.

Well, what's been going on? I've just finished off a few jobs and sent them to the printers, so when they get back I'll upload some photos. I've finished a letterhead, business card and fridge calender for a local electrician. I've also completed some promotional material for the local Mitre 10 store to advertise their Spring Clearance sale. And I've also just sent to the printers some greeting cards with photos on them taken by a local tour guide.

Anyway, for us in South Aussie, this weekend is a long one. Yay, sleep-in's and lazing about!!

introducing :: the little red goose

Hi everyone!! I guess most of you who read my blog often would've noticed the little red goose appear at the top of the page.

I'd like to formally introduce you all to 'the little red goose'. It started in college when we had to design a logo for our own design studios, the little goose popped into my head as it's a bit of a nickname!! And the red part, well I think it's pretty obvious!! Throughout the past year I have tried numerous times to come up with a different logo for my studio, but for some reason I can't get rid of the little red goose, so I've decided to keep him and take him along with me.

I've also launched my new website and shop. My website address is www.tiffanybell.com.au. Here you'll find the link to my shop which I'm currently setting up, so I'll let you all know when I put some items in the shop. You'll also find a selection of my portfolio and a contact form.

It's so nice to complete a project that you've been working on for a while. And it's even nicer when the final product turns out just how you wanted it to, or better!! flowers of spring

The weather's warming up and the spring flowers are starting to bloom.

So, what's been going on?? Well, last Friday I spent quite an amount of time hand-making 60 wedding invitations for a lovely local couple. I'll upload a photo when the invites have been posted out.

Saturday I made a yummy orange and poppyseed cake to share with our visitors, then in the afternoon we did some painting in the house.

Sunday it was out for lunch and tea. Then after Sunday.... comes Monday. Why do the weekends go so fast!?

Anyway, I have the whole day today to work on design projects, so I best get stuck into it!

Yay, it's Friday night!! I hope you've all had a really good week and hope you have a great weekend.

I'm a big fan of packet mix cakes and biscuits, but there's nothing like homemade biscuits. So I thought I'd make some greek almond shortbreads last night, and I'm glad I made the effort....they're quite yummy!!

I collected some old empty paint tins a few weeks ago, and today I got around to covering them. It's amazing what you create from someone else's junk!!

As for my graphic design work, it's cruising along nicely, and I should have some more finished projects to share with you soon.

There's also a new business idea simmering in the background, so when I've done some more research and saved some more money, I'll let you know what the idea is....

Hey!! Well, how long has it been since I last blogged?? Too long!! Just a quick one for now; hopefully I will be able to find time this afternoon to write a longer one.

college pieces

Well, it's nearly the end of another week. I don't know where the weeks disappear. It seems like tax time last year was only a few days ago.

Anyway, I thought I'd share some of my college pieces with you today. We were given a brief for each project and then we were set a deadline by which we had to complete the brief.

Some briefs were easy, some were harder. In college, we completed a large range of different briefs, from packages for tea bags, to book covers and financial reports.

I learnt so much at college, and it has given me the confidence to tackle any brief that comes my way.

Hey!! I hope you all had a great weekend, mine went really fast!! Sorry I didn't get anything posted over the weekend. After a pretty slow, unproductive Friday, I had a really great Saturday. I managed to get a walk in along the beach on Saturday morning, hence the photo, and then I came back to the studio and worked all day. I got so much done!!

I'm currently working on about 7 different exciting projects at the moment, so as I finish each one, I'll post you all a few photos.

I also thought that sometime I would post a few pieces of my college portfolio and also some previous projects that I've completed.

Anyway, just a quick one for now, I must get stuck into doing some more work or cooking tea!! It's yummy fresh fish on the menu for tea tonight!!

interesting interests

Well I hope you've all had a really good week. Can't believe it's been nearly a week since I last blogged!

You know how sometimes you get really excited over something that no one else around you finds exciting? We'll that happens to me quite often; mostly because I find the smallest, most normal things to be interesting.

We'll something that makes me feel excited is recycled paper and card!! I ordered some from mainstream green last week and it arrived yesterday. I love the natural color and texture, which is why I'm wanting to create my business cards from the recycled card; I'll upload a pic when I'm finished creating them.

In fact, all natural textures and colours interest me, like the ratten balls on our table (pictured) and the fruit on our kitchen bench.

When designing, you can draw inspiration from anything that catches your eye.

Anyway, I have got a lovely client coming around to see me soon, so will catch up with you again tomorrow.

a little bit of history

I thought that today, being my second post, I'd let you know a bit about me.

I became a Graphic Designer by chance really. In 2004, my then boyfriend, now husband, was starting a business selling honey. Since I enjoyed playing around on the computer, I decided to have a go at designing their honey label. The label was printed and is now displayed on the supermarket shelves.

From there, word got around and soon I was picking up all different design jobs; from logos to brochures.

I carried on designing throughout years 10, 11 and 12 at school, fitting jobs around my homework.

After finishing year 12 I decided that I wanted to continue my career in graphic design, so I enrolled in Shillington College in Brisbane. In May 2008, I headed off to Brisbane for 3 months of full-on graphic design. I learnt so much more then I ever imagined and would recommend the course to anyone thinking about becoming a Graphic Designer.

After graduating from college, I came back home to Kangaroo Island, South Australia.

It's been almost exactly a year since I got back home, and what a busy 12 months it's been!! Engaged in November, Married in April and now launching my design studio!!

I'm looking forward to meeting new clients and continuing to work for my already valued clients.

In this blog I hope to keep you updated on the projects that I'm working on, my adventures and ideas.

Tiffany Bell has designs on a new career.

Having completed her Certificate IV in Graphic Design at Shillington College in Brisbane, Ms Bell is ready to branch out into more graphic design work.

Ms Bell already has a small client base and used her creative skills as a school-based trainee at The Islander for more than two years, designing ads, flyers and pages.

She says her business is about "expressing passion, ensuring quality and sharing ideas."

Ms Bell is keen to promote local businesses and provide a local creative service for stationary needs.

For personal customers she can design invitations, cards, writing paper and envelopes.
